We get over five hundred new cars and trucks every year, and once in a while, we see something undeniably unique and special. This 1994 J78 is just such a vehicle! Fresh off a recent service, this stunning overlander is offered with a mere 132k verified and documented miles and is turn-key ready to rock. Finished in a one-off Seafoam Mist, this Land Cruiser turns more heads than rides twice its price. Set off by a set of retro wheels and a subtle graphics kit, eagle-eyed enthusiasts will notice a narrow body conversion, which is all the rage in Japan. The little tweaks and touches give off a more classic aesthetic, like an old-school Defender roaming the deserts of Africa. While there is some corrosion on the body to note, and a few scuffs, dings, and discoloration associated with normal use, this lovable rig would be ideal for a daily driver, dedicated camper, or weekend Cars & Coffee pavement queen. Reliable, capable, and collectible, this Japanese Classic is the real deal!

The cabin is much larger than most SUVs we retail and has abundant room for cargo, friends, and family. Simple and ergonomically laid out, the uncluttered design keeps the driver's eyes focused on the road. The dashboards are normally badly cracked, but this one only has a tiny split to note. The driver has a commanding view of the road ahead, and can find the most comfortable driving position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column and power-adjustable lumbar support built into the seat. Within arms reach are the controls for A/C and heat and the Kenwood radio below is fully functional ready to blast your tunes. Functional power windows, door locks, and electric mirrors all work like a charm and make daily use more enjoyable. The textured upholstery is soft to the touch and contrasts against the gray color palette. The seats lack any major rips, stains or tears and were cared for in a prior life. Even the rarely outfitted and highly desirable third row can be found in the back. For cargo needs, it can be fully removed or stowed against the D-pillar. The matching door cards are in good nick and the headliner is held tight and taut to the roof. The carpets do note some light staining, and the fuel gauge doesn't read perfectly above 3/4 of a tank, but these are minor issues for a vehicle of this age. Overall, the complete cabin is comfortable and enjoyable to be inside of, and we think the next owner will agree. We even have the OEM carpet mats on hand so she stays clean after purchase.

The simple and sturdy body-on frame-platform is a big reason for this Land Cruisers' longevity. The nearly bulletproof 1KZ-TE turbo diesel is the perfect complement, with high mileage examples regularly logging over a half million miles. Thanks to two new 12v batteries, the 3.0L cranks life effortlessly and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To keep all the lubricant internal, a new valve cover gasket was replaced by one of our trained techs. The four-banger is linked to a selective transfer case which includes a low-range setting if you have some plans that take place off the beaten path. The manual transmission gives the driver increased control of the platform, and shifts without any hitches or grinds. The suspension does a wonderful job sailing over large and small road imperfections without jarring the occupants. These 70 series do all feel a bit floaty, but we realize most folks don't want firm, sports car handling for a hauler like this. The suspension also offers loads of ground clearance for those needed to traverse some tough terrain. The brakes feel solid and the stylish steel wheels set off the truck perfectly, and are knee-deep in all-terrain rubber. The power steering is light and easy to articulate, and these old school Prados can be daily driven without any stress at all!
