This 1994 Hilux Surf is rugged, practical, and is primed to be a great year-round daily driver for whoever's lucky enough to get behind the wheel. Finished in a one-off Reaper Black, this striking Hilux set off with some subtle rear privacy tint, a factory rear spoiler, and refinished OEM alloys wrapped in new aggressive Falken rubber. While this sporty SUV could use some new fender gasket trim, the body and paint are in good shape aside from the normal dings, scuffs, chips, and fading brightwork associated with normal use. Rocking a trusty 4WD system and nearly bulletproof 3.0L turbodiesel engine, these peppy and efficient Surfs make for killer daily drivers, beach cruisers, or family haulers. This turn-key example is fresh off a recent service and has logged a mere 120k verified and documented miles. The cabin is spacious and comes with a few electric amenities and upgrades. The MOMO wood grain steering wheel and functional Panasonic touchscreen head unit modernize the cabin's aesthetic, with Bluetooth audio functionality if you prefer your tunes over the turbodiesel soundtrack. Above the radio sits a functional climate control system that pipes heat to the cabin and cold A/C for the summer ahead. Power windows, mirrors, and locks work as advertised, and the power moonroof slides fore and aft without hesitation. Even the rear window powers down which is ideal for your canine companion. The gray upholstery has some light wear and separation on the driver seat bottom but is in otherwise above-average condition. Otherwise, the striped cloth lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The carpets, door cards, and headliner look decent, but we did want to note some normal staining and discoloration on the fabric, alongside some typical hairline cracks on the vinyl dash cover. Still, at 25 years old it's no worse for the wear and we think it should suit its next stateside owner nicely.
 
The 1KZ-TE under the hood is a formidable beast, and is the peanut butter to this chassis' jelly. A punchy, durable turbo diesel four-banger, this 3.0 fires up with haste and settles into a smooth idle. Our trained technicians have installed a fresh engine air filter and fuel filter to ensure seamless operation of the diesel, and a fresh oil and filter service was performed to keep this one up to date on lubricant. The 3 liter is punchy under throttle, responsive, and a custom exhaust really lets you hear the turbo whistle when the rear window is unfurled. This rig is easy to control at highway speeds, and we've replaced the idler arm, both front inner and outer tie rods, and installed a new ball joint in the front right to get the drivetrain up to compliance. 4WD engages with the push of a button, and low gearing is available via a selective transfercase should you need some assistance escaping an off road excursion. The steering is light and easy to articulate, and this truck comes to an abrupt stop if needed thanks to new pads and rotors up front. To further aid stopping power, new Falken A/T rubber was mounted on all four corners and helps this one grip, stop, and ride smoothly on demand!
