Toyota's off-road capable SUVs from the early 90s are rugged, purpose-built, rigs that also double as a comfortable and stylish family hauler or daily commuter. With plenty of different models within the Toyota lineup, this boxy turbo diesel SUV is one serious contender.  The Land Cruiser Prado 70 series has a cult following across the globe and it's easy to see why. This 1993 example was refinished in a stunning Midbnight Blue Pearl (TH1) (originally Dark Green) and is in good shape for its age, and reveals very few rock chips and blemishes from normal use. With a mere 162K verified and documented miles, this turbo diesel Toyota has plenty of life on the road for the next lucky owner. Outfitted with a set of OEM rain guards and aftermarket Japanese 3 piece wheels, this Prado looks killer and stands out from the sea of Black 70 series you usually see from Japan.

Just by looking at this Prado, you can easily determine that the interior cabin was well cared for in its prior life. Whether you need to fit your family in for a drive around town to run errands or a long haul road trip, all 5 passengers are seated comfortably with plenty of room to spare. The seats are trimmed in a gray cloth with a gray/blue insert that gives you the ultimate 90s vibe. No sign of heavy bolster wear from entering and exiting the vehicle over the years, which can be a common issue on these SUVs. The door cards are clean and intact revealing no rips or tears, and the headliner and carpet both match the superb condition. The dash has notable damage from UV exposure from overseas resulting in cracks in 2 places. The A/C blows cold and the heat is ready to keep you comfortable with the winter months around the corner. Power accessories are plentiful and you will find electric windows, locks, and mirror adjustments which all operate properly. The driver also receives a tilt steering for driver convenience when you are behind the wheel. The original steering wheel was ditched for a snazzy woodgrain wheel for a better grip and also helps add a bit of class to the cabin. The rear seats do fold down for added storage and the cargo area is massive. Other than the steering wheel and the functional Kenwood Audio, it still remains in the original form as Toyota intended. A simple design that is purpose-built and well laid out.

The engine under the bonnet of this Prado is the infamously reliable 3.0L 1KZ-TE turbo diesel 4 cylinder. The performance given by the heart of this rig is efficient and bulletproof and will not disappoint.  The engine air filter was changed here at our shop to help this engine breathe easily and the startup is instant with the twist of the key thanks to the two new 12V batteries installed here at the dealership. A new valve cover gasket and serpentine belts were also installed by our trained technicians. Acceleration is direct and peppy for this 3.0L and is a nice pairing with the 4-speed automatic transmission. There are no hard shifts between gears and the powerband is consistent upon acceleration. The 4 brand new tires provide stability for all that turbo diesel power and provide increased traction for thousands of miles. The steering is light and easy to navigate, and the suspension is forgiving when you encounter a pothole big or small. The brakes are responsive when you need them and easily slows this rig down with no concerns.
