Clean 80 Series Land Cruisers are getting really difficult to find here in the states. Admittedly, Japan is a honey pot for sourcing this generation Cruiser. We regularly retail these 80 series SUVs in better condition than American examples, oftentimes with half the miles. This 1993 VX Limited has been redone a striking Brilliant Black and only has 101K verified miles on the chassis! Complemented by aftermarket alloys with oversized Falkens, a JAOS skidplate, and tinted rain guards, the ute has a seriously brutish aesthetic. While the clear has faded slightly, the body is in good shape other than some small dings, scuffs, and chips associated with normal wear and tear. Best of all, the JDM spec models came with more equipment and power options than what was available to US consumers.

The interior is in above average shape compared to most 80s we see. It's a good idea to use the factory running board to hoisting oneself into the cabin thanks to the increased ride height. When inside, you are immediately greeted with a leather and wood Nardi wheel mounted to an adjustable column. This upscale touch is perfect in combination with leather Flexstyle seat covers. Unlike older Cruisers, this feels like a modern car on the inside. The driving position is commanding and visibility is fantastic. Modern conveniences include power-folding mirrors, auto-down driver's window, and power locks. A Bluetooth equipped, touch screen Carrozzaria head unit works as it should and even includes a backup camera to ensure safe parking. The speakers work as they should piping tines all the way back to the tailgate. VX limited cars offered two very desirable options in the form of a Coolbox center console and a power sunroof. Both are equipped in this 80 and work properly. Dual-zone climate control keeps everyone onboard happy and the buttons are large, easy to read and depress. The carpets are in reasonably good shape with only slight staining to note. The old owners protected them with OEM carpet mats which are included with the purchase. They also kept the owners manual in the glovebox for originality's sake. The headliner doesn't suffer from any major damage as well and the Alcantara door cards are held properly in place. Privacy tint keeps prying eyes away from the cabin and further protects it from the UV rays of the sun. Even the sunroof has been tinted to help keep the cabin temperatures down.

Mechanically, this FJZ80 is nearly identical to the ones sold here in the US. This benefits many who are hesitant to purchase JDM vehicles due to concerns about hard to find parts and lack of service info. In fact many of our Land Cruiser customers service with their local dealer. The 1FZ-FE inline-six is known to be one of the most reliable engines Toyota ever built. At 4476cc, this large six is nearly vibration-free. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service, she cranks over and sets into a smoothy idle. Power is sent to all four wheels through a selective transfer case and automatic transmission. While this SUV isn't going to set any land speed records, it lumbers up to interstate speeds without the driver having to worry about safely merging. The auto is smooth and lacks any hesitation or clunking sounds. The suspension handles large and small road imperfections without a sweat, and the brakes slow down this massive ute with confidence. The (K295) front and rear LSDs are mated to a locking center differential if you encounter any snow or loose surfaces. As mentioned earlier, the old rubber has been switched out with a set of new 35" Falken Rubitreks. Surprisingly quiet, these all-terrain tires deliver premium grip when you need it.

The 80 series is a bonafide Japanese Classic for several reasons. Its bulletproof reliability, iconic looks, and luxury equipment make this an ideal JDM ride to own and enjoy without breaking the bank!
