The 80 Series set new benchmarks for refinement, power, and technology from the Land Cruiser line. This 1993 is offered with a mere 146K verified miles; equipped with a torque 4.2L turbodiesel and full-time 4WD. Prized for its factory triple lockers above anything else, this luxury five-seater can take you anywhere you like, even off the beaten path! Adorned by an OEM electric winch, updated taillights, and a set of rain guards, the body is finished in Light Beige Metallic (4K1.) Other than a few minor dings and chips, it's in good nick, especially for a truck of this age. Legally imported and freshly serviced, these spacious SUVs are great daily drivers that tout low running costs and ease of ownership.

The cabin is spacious and logically laid out with room for five. VX Limited models, such as this one, came better equipped with things like the OEM "CoolBox" and powered sunroof. Both these units still function and the sunroof motor is strong. The OEM audio was ditched for a Carrozzaria head unit and that is simple to operate. Other power amenities that were standard include power locks, windows, and mirrors. Even the power-folding function still works which is important when finding a spot in a cramped parking deck. The seats are upholstered in a tan and cognac Alcantara. Soft to the touch and easy to adjust, they lack any major imperfections such as rips, holes, or tears. Comfortable on long cruises, the rear bench can also fold forward to create a larger cargo area. The carpets are in good shape as is the headliner. The original mats are included for the next owner as are the factory owners manuals. Privacy tint keeps the harmful rays off the interior plastics and in-cabin temperatures cool in the summertime. The automatic climate system is intuitive and functions properly. That's not to say that the cabin is perfect and we did want to note some cracking on the driver's door card and some leather wear on the steering wheel. Still, this near 30-year-old truck impresses from a condition perspective.

Under the skin, this HDJ81 is overbuilt with beefy components that we designed to endure abuse. The 1HD-T engine is fresh off oil and filter service and churns over quickly with a twist of the key. Due to its straight-six layout, the driveline is naturally free from vibration and this one is no exception. An automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels and shifts seamlessly. It's geared for US interstates and this massive rig can return over 20mpg. There is also a selective transfer case if you need low gearing to get you out of a precarious situation. Best of all this Land Cruiser is equipped with (K294) triple lockers, which is tough to imagine using but we do realize some clients are into recreational off-roading. The brakes feel confident and the suspension takes large and small road imperfections with confidence. The factory alloys are all wrapped in new all-season rubber at all four corners. They quiet down the ride noticeably and will provide plenty of grip for years to come.
