The FZJ80 is a sturdy, reliable, capable 'ute produced squarely in the middle of Toyota's heyday. This 1993 gasoline-powered Land Cruiser is offered with only 119K verified miles and features a tricked out interior, and a four-wheel-drive that can take you anywhere. Refinished in a custom Jet Black, the body is in good shape other than some deteriorating moldings, and some small scuffs, dings, and chips associated with normal use. Equipped with a prized third row, 3" lift kit, and reputation for a low cost of ownership, this 80 series is hard to top!

The VX limited package was highly sought after and for a few great reasons. It's roomy, full of features, and has held up well over the years. The driver has a fantastic command of the road and the large front and side glass promote good visibility. The original steering wheel has been replaced with a wood grain accented unit from a later generation Cruiser. The gray and blue Alcantara seats in the front and middle rows are covered with custom black leather covers to protect them against abuse. The third-row jump seats can be completely removed if you choose, and add some much-needed seating when the kid's friends tag along. The center console CoolBox icemaker seems to wow everyone who sees it and keeps drinks cold in the summer during long road trips. Normally the console cover has extensive wear but this one has been replaced recently. Power windows, locks, and mirrors are all standard equipment, as the Land Cruiser was a luxury SUV. An upgraded Panasonic head unit pipes tunes into the cabin and speakers extend back to the cargo area. The digital climate system works as it should, and a separate climate zone is available to rear passengers. If you don't wish to use the A/C, OEM rain guards allow the occupants to drop the widows without being hit with a wall of wind. An optional factory sunroof adds some additional ventilation, it functions properly and can be tilted or retracted depending on your preference. The headliner is in good shape, as are the carpets, as they were protected by the OEM carpet mats, which are included with the purchase. That's not to say the interior is perfect. The driver's side door cards have some plastic wear, the audio cuts out intermittently, and the dash has a few hairline cracks. Once again, its a 27-year-old vehicle, and as a whole its really nice.

The driveline in this FZJ80 is unlike most current sports utility offerings around the globe. Today's trucks are rolling computers, with active yaw control and a million driver aids and safety systems that just make them feel artificial. The beauty of this rig is simplicity. Its bulletproof engine, the 1FZ-FE is known to be one of Toyotas' best. Its low vibration, easy to work on, and parts are everywhere here in the states. With the turn of a key, it springs to life and sets into a smooth idle. The engine benefits from a fresh semi-synthetic oil and filter service, ensuring it needn't be serviced for another three thousand miles. The 4.5L mill has plenty of power to hurl this massive vehicle up to and above legal highway speeds. The automatic transmissions aren't known for split-second gearchanges, however, they are well built and hassle-free. This one moves through the gears effortlessly, and power is sent through a selective transfer case to all four wheels. Front and rear limited-slip differential make tougher terrain more manageable and a center locking differential can be utilized through a dash-mounted switch. The Pro Comp lift adds about three inches to ride height, which looks infinitely more aggressive along with the aftermarket black wheels and oversized brand new Falken tires.

This head-turning 'ute still drives great and is a good choice for a daily driver. Its seven-seat capacity, brutish good looks, and sturdy 4WD systems can't be beaten, and make this a Japanese Classic.
