Exterior Overview
In Japan, Nissan was mastering the performance sedan segment, and it’s a shame we never got any of their greatest hits here stateside. It’s easy to see why the R33 is immensely popular, and with a spacious cabin, gobs of power, and impressive handling, these Japanese Classics need little introduction. A potent RB25DET engine, slick shifting 5-speed manual transmission, and responsive rear-wheel drive check all the necessary boxes for a sports car enthusiast, and with room for five, this sleek sedan is truly a jack of all trades. This 1993 GTS25-t is offered with 105k verified and documented miles, and finished in a fan favorite finish, Gun Grey Metallic (KH2). Set off by an optional Aero front bumper, naVan rear wing, and R34 six spoke alloys, the aesthetic is killer. The paint has held up well, showing only light chips, dings, and scuffs associated with normal use, but that does little to affect this ECR33’s overall appearance thanks to the unique color and stellar stance. Spacious, fast, and just downright fun to drive, this four-door Skyline is fresh off a recent service and is turn-key ready to rock! This is one Japanese Classic that surely won’t last long.
Interior Overview
Nissan has always considered themselves champions of the “4 Door Sports Car” and by looking at the fit and finish of this interior, we’re inclined to agree. Featuring notable safety options, like a passenger SRS airbag, and driver-oriented performance upgrades, the R33 does it all, and fortunately this one appears to have been well cared for in a prior life. The low profile dash is trimmed in a grey vinyl that’s soft to the touch and fortunately lacks any cracking, peeling, or unwanted UV damage. There is a bit of residue from a prior navigation mount, but fortunately, it hasn’t damaged the dash cover. The center stack frames a futuristic-looking digital automatic climate control system, with cold A/C and hot heat working at the push of a button. An adjacent Kenwood headunit sounds decent for its age and is in good operating order despite a finicky volume knob. For some added comfort behind the wheel, a tilt-adjustable steering column is standard, and the driver gains a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel over the factory unit. The patterned grey cloth seating shows no notable rips, tears, or stains to be found. The material is mirrored in the door cards which are all in terrific shape. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all work at the push of a button, but we would like to note the power folding option for the mirrors is currently inoperable. The rear seats offer ample room for three, and the trunk can carry all your groceries, luggage, and then some. Despite its above average condition, we did want to note that the power folding mirrors and fuel gauge no longer operate. Other than that, it’s hard to scrutinize this cabin, and we think it’ll serve the next occupants quite well.
Mechanical Overview
The turbocharged, rear-wheel drive layout is tried and true, and the two extra doors don’t make this feel any less Skyline. Better yet, this R33 is fresh off a recent service here, and has passed its state safety inspection with flying colors. It starts up abruptly, care of a new 12v battery, and a new engine air filter and fuel filter give the RB a bit of a tune up. Chock full of midrange power, this R33 sails up to highway speeds swiftly, and a five speed manual gearbox is easy to shift through the tree. The long wheelbase lends itself to superior highway stability, and we installed new coilover suspension on all four corners to keep the chassis planted to the pavement. To keep the drivetrain safety compliant, new caster arms were installed up front, along with new front brake pads and rotors. The factory six spoke alloys are wrapped in new Falken tires, and we performed a fresh four wheel alignment to keep you tracking straight for the road ahead. Save for a minor power steering pump seep, this special Skyline has a lot going for it, and it should reward the next owner tremendously!
