Our adventurous clients can't seem to get enough of our Land Cruisers. These rigs are capable, reliable, and built to last.

Exterior Overview

Our adventurous clients can’t seem to get enough of our Land Cruisers. These rigs are capable, reliable, and built to last. At this point, we offer four generations of this storied platform, but the 70 Series seems to get the most fanfare. You can see why, with its iconic, angular exterior and nearly bulletproof diesel driveline. This 1993 is a showstopper and is finished in a Nori Green over Pepper White two-tone. Set off by wide color-matched D-Window steel wheels and a set of OEM rainguards, it’s hard to fault the body aside from a few light imperfections from normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this lovable Landy is offered with a mere 155k verified and documented miles on the clock. High on style and substance, this retro ride would make for a wonderful year-round daily driver or wicked weekend campsite companion. Spacious, stylish, and super unique, this reliable Japanese Classic has some serious staying power!

Interior Overview

The cabin is spacious and has a few more power options than you might expect for a vehicle of this vintage. The tall upright windscreen promotes decent outward visibility and headroom is abundant. The center stack is within arm’s reach and features a simple climate control unit. For these next few winter months, the heat will be handy to use, and A/C can be engaged with the twist of a knob for those living in more tropical climates! Adjacent is a Pioneer head unit upgrade that fills the cabin with tunes. The driver can find the ideal driving position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column. To make daily use more enjoyable power windows, electric locks, and power mirrors all function in typical Toyota fashion. The seats are in above-average shape and show no major imperfections, such as rips, stains, or tears. The rear bench can also tumble forward to accommodate larger cargo. The rear barn doors swing open wide for easy loading. The carpets, headliner, and door cards all show minor wear but have withstood the past 30 years relatively unscathed. Despite the typical dashboard cracks found on nearly all of these Prados, a nonfunctional driver lumbar inflator, and some sun damage on the top of the driver’s door card, it’s hard to complain about the cabin and it was clearly cared for overseas.

Mechanical Overview

This tough Toyota is built atop a body-on-frame platform, unlike most soft-roading SUVs that masquerade as sport utilities. The engine is also an all-star, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off a recent oil and filter service, the inline-four springs to life care of a new 12v battery. To ensure the 1K runs like a top we replaced the fuel filter with a new one, and we replaced the engine air filter, too. New serpentine belts keep under hood squeaks to a minimum and work to properly power the electronics. The oil level will stay on full thanks to a new valve cover gasket and half moon seal that we replaced while it was on the lift. Most importantly the timing belt and water pump service was performed, which is the most expensive preventative maintenance item there is! While in there we installed a new thermostat and replaced all the coolant to ensure proper thermal management. We didn’t stop there and further bolstered the driveline by resealing the transmission pan. Shifts feel reassured and the gearing is perfect around town and comfortable on the interstate, even at our higher American interstate speeds. The driver can choose between 2WD and 4WD depending on the road condition and the hubs can be locked from inside the cabin. The front hubs were rebuilt and new rear panhard bar bushings added. The suspension provides tons of ground clearance. The longer wheelbase featured on the J78 trucks distributes bumps better than the shorter J71 and J73 models. New rear trailing arm bushings were installed to meet Virginia state safety inspection standards and we also rebuilt the power steering pump. This SUV stops quickly when called upon and grip is handled by four new 32″ Falken all-terrain tires mounted and balanced at all four corners. The new rubber quells road noises, looks mean, and most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
