As Top Gear famously noted in their unbelievable review, the Toyota Hilux is the standard bearer of SUV reliability. These things are built like tanks, and its timeless exterior design, rugged diesel drivetrain, and manual transmission makes for a great drive. This 1993 model, finished in Dark Blue Pearl (8E3) only has 96K original miles, and is the cleanest Hilux we have imported to date. The exterior has been left completely stock and like the rest of the truck is unmodified, and with looks this good why would you? The paint is not only a desirable color but also in beautiful condition. There are no major flaws to note on the exterior just minor wear well above average for a vehicle of this vintage.

The interior is in above average condition for a vehicle of this age, and has been well preserved and maintained. The dash is free of fading or cracking, and hasn't been punctured or modified for GPS mounts or gauge packs like many vehicles from Japan. All panels show minimal wear, no trim pieces are missing, and the carpet is stain free. The OEM carpet mats, and factory Japanese manuals are also included. Both front and rear seats are in excellent shape, and are upholstered in a soft, gray cloth. The seats have maintained great bolstering, and the car has a surprisingly comfortable cockpit for long highway cruises. Rear passengers have their own separate climate controls, and a bevy or head and legroom. Rear occupants benefit from privacy tint to reduce interior temps, and the rear windows privacy tint keeps stowable items in the cargo area beyond view of prying eyes. The A/C blows cold and the P/S works properly, as does the defrost functions. Oversize fog lights, chrome running boards, OEM rain guards complete the look, but this Hilux Surf's best traits are beneath the skin.

The engine and transmission are also in excellent condition. This 1KZ-TE turbo diesel is one of the finest engines Toyota has ever developed, and most desirable power plant for the Hilux. This 3.0L four-cylinder mill has gobs of torque and is know to outlast its gasoline counterparts. Its fires right up and idles nicely thanks to a new 12v battery. An oil service and brand new clutch complete the Surfs maintenance, and ensure the new owner inherits a vehicle that is in tip top shape. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through all five forward gears. The clutch engages with little effort, and the large body on frame off roader bounds over the pavement without a complaint. Four new tires have been mounted and balanced by one of our trained technicians, and an alignment performed, to ensure the new owner has optimal traction when required. The brakes are confident, and if you choose not to stop on time, a OE chrome bull bar is installed to protect the front bumper skin. 4WD is selectivle via the transfer case, and it functions without a problem.
