The Delica is the quintessential overland people hauler. The unique bodywork is impressive, and with ride height and mechanicals you'd expect from a truck, and with a cabin that seats seven comfortably; it fills an important niche in a market. This 1992 example is finished in a Gray/Silver two-tone (H8AK) and is offered with only 93K verified miles. The large glass Crystal Lite glass panel roof and fresh tires make for a comfortable ride, yet when the going gets tough a stout turbodiesel and four-wheel drive can be relied upon. The body is in good shape, other than the normal scuffs and dings you'd expect from a 25-year-old van. The lower cladding has a fair amount of scratches, but the brush guard and metal bumpers have done a decent protecting the bodywork from serious harm. Fresh off a full service, this Delica stands tall, ready to conquer the road ahead!

The cockpit layout of the Delica is what you'd expect, with copies amounts of room for people and cargo. With flexible seating options, rear climate zones, and a view of the heavens above, its hard to complain. Hoist oneself up into the driver's seat, and you'll immediately notice how good the visibility is. Massive side glass, skinny A-pillars, and a cab over design all lend themselves to a commanding view of the road. At night time, oversized amber fog lamps and projection headlights brightly illuminate the road ahead. The driver benefits from tons of power options, such as a one-touch auto window, power locks, and automatic climate control. A manual sunroof can be used for ventilation upfront, as it tilts up to vent. If you'd rather not run the A/C, privacy tint was applied in Japan and it also obscures prying eyes from the cabin. OEM rain guards also assist to allow for a more pleasurable, lower volume driving experience when the front windows are completely rolled down. The rear has its own dedicated climate system if those in the rear want to get a bit comfier. The middle row contains swiveling captains chairs and a massive skylight above. The four glass panels contain an assembly that unfurls the UV covers to obscure the glass, although the rearmost driver shade is fixed in place. LED interior lights have been chosen to replace the normal ones, and provide better lighting. The carpets and door cards do show some normal wear, but we have cleaned them to give them a new lease on life. The interior plastics were never a strong point for Mitsubishi, and some of the touch surfaces have some peeling as you might expect for a van of this age. The rear bench seats three can be completely removed or fully reclined depending on how it's being used. The rear cargo area behind the bench is good for a suitcase or two, and the tailgate reaches up to 6" high for taller folks or this looking to transport larger payloads.

The secret sauce of the Delicas success is simple, a brutish, go-anywhere drivetrain. The 4D56 TurboDiesel was a successfully built, and market motor for Mitsubishi. Made for three decades, parts are easy to find and relatively inexpensive. The mid-mounted four-cylinder jolts to life with a turn of the key. The familiar diesel clatter is reassuring, and the little engine sets into a constant idle upon cold start. Fresh off recent maintenance, the engine feels strong and the Delica effortless accelerates up to highway speeds with ease. The automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, and shifts without any issues through the four forward gears. The brakes are capable, and the beefy OEM suspension handles cavernous potholes and aggressive approach rates with ease. The alloys all have new Falken all-terrain rubber-mounted at all four corners, assuring on or off-road grip won't be an issue. Like all of our vehicles, this Delica also comes with a newly issues Virginia state safety inspection placard ensuring it was properly reconditioned prior to its sale.

The Delica is distinctive, capable, and in huge demand stateside. Adventurers, parents, enthusiasts all appreciate this timeless Mitsubishi van, and its a Japanese Classic you can daily drive and enjoy!
