To those in the know, the turbocharged JZX90 models perhaps have the best performance values leaving Japan. They pack on a half-liter of displacement over the R32 sedan, and boy do these things move. This 1992 also happens to have a nicely appointed interior and plenty of space and electric amenities for five occupants. Finished in a fresh coat of a one-off Gray Metallic, the body is in good shape aside from some light dings and nicks, and is accented by a set of OEM rainguards. Fresh off a recent service, this Mark II is turn-key ready to rock and would make for a punchy daily driver or unique weekend cruiser.

The cabin is spacious, simple, and well-appointed overall. The dash is in good shape, and lacks any cracking or distortion. Aside from a MoMo Competition steering wheel and a set of Alpine tweeters, the cabin is just the same as it left the factory. A simple to use automatic climate control system features working A/C and proper heat for the winter. The OEM radio works as well, and supplies tunes all about the cabin. The gray and blue seats are quite supportive and soft to the touch. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and have been well cared for in a prior life. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have withstood major abuse over the past quarter-century and even the owner's manuals are still in the glovebox. Electric windows, door locks, and mirrors also work as advertised making daily use enjoyable. Sadly the power-folding function for the side mirrors doesn't work anymore, and there is a tear in the shift boot, but it's hard to complain about the cabin otherwise. It even has a keyless entry system and a spare key, too!

The chassis is sublime and the drivetrain is just as good as advertised, too! Powered by the baby Supra engine, the 1JZ-GTE in this ride has plenty of giddy-up. The engine is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly with the twist of the key. A new 12v battery will last for a many more years to come and will be able to handle the winter ahead just fine. The 2.5L idles nearly without vibration, and a set of new valve cover gaskets and an oil pan reseal were taken care of by one of our trained technicians. An automatic gearbox shifts seamlessly and sends power to the rear wheel, as it should in any proper sports car. The Toyota accelerates impressively and there is very little lag. It pulls like a freight train at highway speeds, and it's easy to get in trouble without keeping an eye on the speedometer. While the fatal flaw for many Toyota's of this era were the ECUs, this one has been professionally rebuilt and comes with a lifetime warranty. As enamored as you might be with this sedan's straight-line performance, the handling is killer, too. The chassis is rigid and the long-wheelbase delivers a premium highway ride and predictable handling characteristics. The weight distribution is near 50/50 so the braking response is also balanced. While on the lift, we took care of the front and rear brakes, including new front and rear pads that have been installed with new rotors as well. The five-spoke alloys are all wrapped in new rubber at all four corners. The new tires reduce cabin noise and will provide tons of year-round grip for tens of thousands of miles to come.
