This 1991 Toyota Chaser (JZX81) is a purpose built drift car that you can still drive to work. The body is rough but presents itself well on track. The paint is in similar condition and can best be described as pink. The vehicle was purpose built for drifting and it shows. Changes on the exterior include a Big Win aero kit, aftermarket (wider) front fenders, 17” Advan AVS Model 5 wheels up front, and aftermarket 18x10” wheels in the rear. The odometer currently reads 52k miles, however this could not be verified, so it’s being listed with unverified mileage.
The interior does show some wear, but overall is above average for a vehicle this age. The dash has been modified to fit a few aftermarket gauges but has no cracks. The driver front seat has been replaced with an aftermarket reclining bucket seat, but otherwise the factory seats are present. A Safety 21 bolt-in roll cage and aftermarket steering wheel have also been added by the previous owner.
Mechanically is where this JZX81 shines and a number of improvements have been made. The 1JZ-GTE starts right away, idles correctly, and pulls nicely under boost. The ECU has been swapped to a JZX90 ECU which utilizes a S3 Factory harness. The robust R154 5 speed manual transmission shifts properly and the Exedy twin disk clutch does not slip when transferring power to the TRD 2 way differential. Changes to the induction system include an HKS intake, custom hard-pipe kit, and HPI front mount intercooler. It’s matched with a full stainless 3” exhaust system which consist of a stainless 3” down pipe, stainless 3” test pipe, and Night Pager 3” catback exhaust. Plenty of braking power is supplied by the GT-R (BNR32) front brakes with stainless lines and the engine maintains a steady operating temperature thanks to a GReddy oil cooler with filter relocation kit. This Chaser rides on Kei Office coilovers on all four corners and the front suspension has been further modified with extended lower control arms (extended 35mm) and modified knuckles for increased angle. Overall this car is a blast to drive – but still well-mannered enough for street duty.
