1991 TownAce 4WD
Pending Sale: $14,595
The overland craze has been going strong for a while now and the market for Sprinters and beat-up ProMasters defies logic. Why not explore the great unknown with something more unique and efficient and collectible. This 1991 TownAce is underpinned by a trusty 4WD system and powered by a punchy little turbodiesel. Finished in a subtle Dark Bluish Gray(183), and set off by some funky decals and OEM rainguards, the body and paint are in average shape aside from some light clearcoat fading, dings, chips, and scuffs, and scrapes associated with normal use. New sliding window gaskets have been installed keeping the outdoor weather conditions out from the cabin. It has tons of cabin space for friends, family, and furry cargo with its balanced mid-engine layout and comes fresh off a recent service. Offered with 128k verified and documented miles, this eight-seater is turn-key and ready to rock. For those looking for a durable, year-round hauler with tons of style, look no further than this terrific Japanese Classic!
The interior feels cavernous because this is the high roof option. The also means ice-cold dual A/C for the summer ahead. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this tall Toyota ride above traffic for premium visibility. The dash lacks any cracking or distortion and houses an OEM head unit that sounds fantastic and works like a charm. The driver also benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and electric windows and mirrors. Rear occupants can dial up some natural ventilation, as the side glass slide open. The door cards, carpet, and headliner have withstood major abuse over the years and are in good nick. The same could be said about the gray upholstery which lacks any major rips stains, or tears. They are comfy on long hauls and can be folded into a handly sleeping service if you want to catch a quick catnap on the road. Other than a tear on the driver's lower seat vinyl and the lack of a center console cover it's really hard to complain about the cabin and it was obviously cared for in a prior life.
These mid-size vans are the perfect blend of space and efficiency. Where the smaller 660cc vans struggle to handle the rigors of interstate use, this Toyota is happy to cruise at interstate speeds. The 2C-T engine is a wonderful mill, fresh off an oil and filter service. Other recent service includes a pricey timing belt and water pump, which was performed after the car arrived stateside. The aforementioned 2.0L is connected to a manual gearbox, which makes this people-hauler a whole lot more entertaining to drive. The linkage is communicative and gear shifts are more rewarding than you might expect! The van handles decently thanks to a low center of gravity. If you encounter loose surfaces or plan to play on the beach, a 4WD low range can be selected from inside the cabin. The steering is confident as are the brakes, and the suspension provides tons of ground clearance and handles large potholes with ease. New all-season tires have been mounted and balanced at all four corners and will maximize grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
