Finding clean, unmolested R32 generation Nissan Skylines is becoming extremely difficult in Japan. This subtle sedan ticks all of the important boxes; timeless styling, rugged durability, room for four, and rear-wheel-drive performance. Our latest '91 GTS Type-S sedan is a rather unique one. Finished in Light Gray Metallic (TG0) is a color that we don't see very often and makes for a rather striking setup. With its Vertex style, side skirts and rear bumper give it a far more aggressive stance without having to sacrifice the factory looks. Having both high and low beam fogs, for instance, aren't something we see too often nor do they wind up making it onto aftermarket front bumpers so its great that they retained them. The real icing on the cake are the 17" Nismo LMGT4s which aside from being quite rare while still keep an OEM feel. The Light Gray looks great with the blacked-out rear windows and shows well. Based on its overall condition it looks like the car has an older respray but is largely blemish-free. While any 29-year-old vehicle is going to have some small dings and scratches there's nothing particularly concerning to note on this one.

Those who love the R32 aren't usually enamored with the quality of the interior, although this generation Skyline came with some nice power amenities for day to day life. On the positive side the soft, grey cloth seats have held up quite well over the years. As from some bolster wear to the driver's side, the passenger and back seats are both devoid of major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears. The carpets and door cards are in fine shape as well, and the headliner is still taught and tight on the roof. Being fitted with the factory sunroof you'll sometimes find water spots or blemishes on the headliner but this one has made it through in great shape. With both the power venting and full retractable feature you can always find the right temperature. Of course, having power windows on all four corners gives you the full fresh air experience. You still have the OEM head unit, power-folding mirrors, and the digital climate system is operational as well. While most of the interior is all original the steering wheel has been upgraded to a Momo Race wheel and a sportier Razo shift knob. These are a bit sleeker than the factory ones and feel great in the hand. Like all R32s this one does suffer from the typical dash bubble that plagues most all of them.

Nissan is renowned for making legendary engines and transmissions, and the driveline doesn't disappoint in this GTS with only 86K verified miles. Inline-sixes are seemingly a thing of the past, which is a shame. Displacing two liters, the engine fires to life with a quick turn of the key thanks to a new fuel filter, sock, and fresh set of plugs. A new air filter gives a little bump in performance and helps to free up some of the intake noise. An axle-back exhaust is what really lets the RB shine though. The burble is subtle compared to many exhausts that come through here, but certainly helps bring to life that straight 6. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual transmission, which shifts properly and maximized the fun-factor since there aren't too many manual sedans options anymore. The 5 speed gives you full control of the car and allows you to maximize the naturally aspirated power band. While not as quick as the boosted variant, make no bones about it, the GTS is no slouch. In return, the fuel economy is pretty impressive, and the RB is inexpensive to service and parts are readily available stateside. However, we've gone ahead and taken care of most all the major service items like a new timing belt and water pump along with four new tires on those LMGT4s. Other serviced items include new HICAS arms along with the front upper control arms. This legendary Skyline is offered as a turn-key option for those who want a special JDM ride. Stylish, sporty, and fun the R32 is a Japanese Classic you can daily drive without feeling bad. As a collectible, if you hold onto it for a few years, you're likely to make some money as they are going up in value at a scary pace. With its iconic looks, top-notch driving dynamics, and wide aftermarket support who wouldn't want to rock a Skyline?
