The R32 is a timeless design, and clean examples are getting harder to find by the day. Sedans like this 1991 Gun Gray Metallic (KH2) GTS offer killer styling, refined driving dynamics, and low cost of ownership all in one package. At only 55K verified miles the body on this perfectly proportioned saloon is in good shape, other than some minor dings and scuffs from normal use. Equipped with a 5-speed manual, buttery smooth inline-six, and rear-wheel drive this freshly serviced and legally imported Nissan is a certified Japanese Classic.
The interior is in wonderful shape and includes a number of impressive power options. The cabin was obviously cared for in Japan as evidenced by its condition. The dash lacks any cracking or fading but does suffer from the small bubble above the glovebox that is common to this generation's skyline. The seats are trimmed in a soft, textured gray cloth. They lack any major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears. On long trips, they also are plenty comfortable and are properly bolstered to provide support. This model seats a total of five and feels just as sporty as its coupe counterpart. The driver benefits from an adjustable column as well as standard power windows, locks, and mirrors, which are all currently functioning. The digital climate system is easy to use and right at hand. The OEM radio below it has been removed, but a US head unit is an easy fix since it wouldn't have had much use to begin with here. The carpets, door cards, and headliner are in fine shape and lack any major damage.
This stout driveline is one of the obvious reasons for the model's success. Powered by a 2.0L, dual overhead cam RB20DE, the Skyline starts right up thanks to a new 12V battery we have installed here in the states. It also received a fresh oil and filter service and a new engine air filter to ensure the engine maximizes fuel economy and power. Mated to a close-ratio five-speed gearbox, power is sent to the rear wheels. The transmission shifts as it should and is geared properly for the higher speeds of our interstate system. The stock suspension is fine for daily use and can handle large and small potholes with ease. To reduce suspension play we are relacing several components including the front upper control arms and the left rear HICAS arms. This should give the driver the ability to toss this sports sedan through a set of twisties and receive all the communicative responses you expect from such a neural chassis. Braking inputs are direct and our trained techs have replaced the front brake pads and rotors to ensure that stopping distances remain as short as possible. The factory wheels are all wrapped in new all-weather rubber at all four corners. These new tires quiet down the ride and will provide premium year-round grip for years to come.
This well-rounded series 2 Type-S would make an ideal daily driver or unmolested toy to tinker with. As far as entry-level Skylines go, this sporty, efficient, and well-built example is a winner and you won't want to miss out!
