Rough and rugged, Mitsubishi's two-door 1991 Pajero is one hell of a truck. Powered by a durable 2.5L turbodiesel, this body-on-frame rig is offered with a mere 36K verified miles. Best of all this Blue over Silver two-tone (B42) is optioned with a manual gearbox and is much more fun to drive than the slushbox-equipped models. Accentuated by a polished OEM brush guard and skid plate, the body is in good shape aside from some normal ding and scuffs associated with routine use. Recently serviced and legally imported this reliable SUV would make an ideal daily driver or weekend play toy making it a bonafide Japanese Classic.

The cabin is in good shape and has been well cared for in Japan. The dash is in good shape, lacking any cracks or distortion. A neat-looking gauge suite sits atop it and a fully digital climate system below. Tons of power equipment are available and this one includes power locks, windows, and electric folding mirrors. These all work and the driver also benefits from an adjusting steering column. Additional ventilation can be accessed through a large, manual sunroof that opens up the interior to a good deal of natural light. The seats are near mint and in fantastic shape; they look better than most of the seats you find stateside half their age. They have decent support for long drives, and the blue cloth is devoid of any major rips stains, or tears. The upholstery is even soft to the touch still. The carpets are in good nick, as are the door cards and headliner. We have even included the original mats to protect the floor liners for this vehicle's newest chapter. The rear seats flip forward to increase the cargo size and the rear tailgate swings open for a large loading area. That's not to say the interior is perfect; we did want to note the factory head unit no longer works. Still, at three decades old, the overall condition is remarkable.

Mechanically, this truck is simple and robust. Utilized for three decades, the 4D56 four-cylinder turbo diesel is easy to find parts for while being economical to own. Fresh off an oil and filter service, she starts right up with a quick twist of the key. Two new 12V batteries ensure reliable starts for the next four or five years as well. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox. The transmission shifts as it should and send power through a selective transfer case. Mitsubishi's system can be activated at speeds up to 100KM/PH. The driver can send power to all four-wheel or just two if required. Low gearing is also available if the going gets tough and a locking center differential aids grip further. The suspension is selective and has a setting for hard and soft depending on driver preference. Large and small potholes are gobbled up by the platform and the brakes feel confident in slowing her down. The steering is power-assisted and easy to articulate and the alloy wheels are all wrapped in freshly mounted all-terrain Falken rubber. We even put on a new spare tire! They will last for years to come and offer tons of grip in inclement weather situations.
