The Pulsar GTi-R is an SR20DET powered AWD hatchback that was produced by Nissan to meet the requirements for entry into World Rallycross. 227hp in a lightweight AWD chassis allowed it to out perform supercars of the era. Less than 15,000 units were produced making it desirable and relatively rare.
This specific example is a 1990 and in good condition overall. It remains mostly in stock form with subtle but tasteful changes. The exterior is in very good condition and the body has no major dents or dings. The paint also shines very nicely with no significant blemishes. In stock form the plastic hood vents have a matte finish and usually have severe fading. The previous owner of this example has color matched these vents which lead to a very clean look. The only other changes are a set of OZ Racing Rally wheels which fit the character of the vehicle.
The interior is also in good condition and besides a Momo steering wheel – remains in stock form. The seats are in good shape with no major rips or tears. The panels are in similar condition and all trim pieces are present. The dash does have cracking which is unfortunately very common with these vehicles.
Mechanically it runs extremely well and appears to have been well maintained. The SR20DET starts right away, idles smoothly, and pulls nicely under boost. Shifts through the 5 speed manual transmission are smooth and do not grind. The only modification is an upgraded 2.5” catback exhaust. Records indicate that the cluster was replaced at 82k miles, making the current actual mileage 85k.
