1989 Nissan Fairlady Z32 TT
The Nissan Z32 is a timeless design, with beauty that is more than skin deep. It's a serious grand tourer and has the stout and sporty mechanicals to back it up! This 1989 example is offered with a mere 53K verified and documented miles, and finished in Nissan's eye-catching Aztec Red (AG2). The body has been well maintained but does have some minor rock chips and normal wear, associated with normal use. Enthusiasts will love the manual gearbox and nearly 300hp from the potent V6, and will likely enjoy the bevy of power amenities as well Fresh off a recent service, this lightly modified manual bi-turbo example is a certified Japanese Classic and would make for a great weekend cruiser or daily driven sports car.
The cabin design is driver-focused with all controls within the reach. When you are seated behind the wheel, the gauges are front and center, and easy to read at a glance. Digital climate control is found to the left of the wheel and blows cold A/C through the cabin with one touch. Surrounding the cluster housing, you will find most of the controls making the driver seat feel like a fighter jet cockpit. Power mirrors with folding capability work as they should and are located in the center near the shifter. Power windows and locks are all operable, and the OEM radio is still working in great condition. The seats are wrapped in a gray cloth interior and show some light bolster wear when you approach the driver's side. The material is still soft to the touch, comfortable on long cruises, and lacks any other major imperfections. You will notice on the driver A-pillar, that there are zip ties that may have held gauges in the past but they are a hardly noticeable blemish. The black dash is clean and clear of bubbling or rips, which shows the care this car was given overseas. The door cards show some wear when you see them such as minor abrasions on the driver's side. The rear seats appear to be lightly used and are intact. This 2+2 can hold a total of four passengers can fit but is tight in the rear. The panels under the 1/4 glass windows do show some delamination of the vinyl inserts, a common issue for the Z32 chassis. The T-Tops are functional removable and add a bit of light to the cabin making it feel larger, and wonderful to cruise with them off on nice weather days.
Under the large aluminum bonnet, rests the VG30DETT engine. This engine was found in stateside models so finding parts is stress-free. We did install a new 12V Battery to ensure the 3.0L starts up promptly and the VG is fresh off an oil and filter service. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The transmission shifts properly and lacks any grinding or hitches between gear changes. Driving on highways and backroads, you will find the suspension taking on bumps and potholes with confidence. Steering is light for maneuvering on road trips or just as a daily commute. Brakes are responsive to the touch and have no doubt slowing this Fairlady down to a stop. We replaced the front left inner and outer tie rods when the vehicle was inspected in our shop to refresh the suspension and keep this Z on track. Other performed services include new engine air filters, serpentine belts, and a new fuel filter. The brakes are stellar and the wheels are all wrapped in new all-season rubber to promote year round grip.
