This FC3S RX-7 is a bit more modified than vehicles we typically import, but after being convinced to take it for a drive in Japan we felt it was worth importing and it is a very well rounded car that could be used for a daily commute or a competitive track day. With a long list of modifications focused on grip driving and making the car handle better, just a simple drive around the block will show just how nimble the car is. There is quite a bit of aftermarket aero on the car as well. Keep in mind this is all FRP and the fit and finish isn't perfect, but then it wasn't built as a show car. It is more of a function and form car in that order. The aero installed includes a one off GP Sports front bumper, GP Sports side skirts, D-MAX front and rear fenders, Sexy Style Hood, Bomex rear spats, and Ganador mirrors. All of this is finished in a Black Cherry paint job. There are some typical FRP cracks here and there but overall it is in nice shape.
The wheels are staggered 17" Weds SA70s finished a bronze. The brakes have been massively upgraded with a 4 piston Brembo GT kit along with Project MU 2-piece rotors, and stopping should no longer be an issue. Suspension is handled by Ohlins coilovers out back and Cusco coilovers up front, we are not sure why the brands are mixed but can tell you it is a very effective setup. A 6 point around dash Cusco roll cage has been installed, which noticeably stiffens the chassis, and if that was enough under body Cusco braces have also been added.
The interior is not what you would expect from a car this modified. Everything is intact and functional, although the front seats have been replaced. The driver seat is a fixed East Bear Bucket seat, while the passenger seat is a reclinable Bride Brix. The driver seat does have typical wear on the side from getting in and out and is a bit faded. The passenger seat is in great condition. The dash is in overall good condition. There is one place which is difficult to notice where a gauge was mounted at one point. A Stack gauge cluster has also been installed in the factory location and looks great. There is also a Pioneer DVD / Navigation double din installed, and while the navigation will not work in the United States the DVD/CD player does and looks great.
The engine which is largely unmodified runs excellent and does not smoke. It starts up and idles great. The starter sticks occasionally, but nothing terrible. A Greddy front mount intercooler sits behind the bumper and offers a cool charge of air to the engine from the turbo. A K&N intake has been added and helps bring in more air and the 5 Zigen Fireball 3" catback gets rid of unwanted exhaust quickly while maintaining that signature rotary sound.
Overall a nice performance oriented build, with great Japanese styling and sound.
