Stock #4129
Exterior Overview
For the true Nissan enthusiast, old-school JDM nut, or passionate vehicle restorer, this 1988 Silvia K’s is a perfect project. Previously built to compete in Japan, this S13 debuted at the 1999 HKS drag meeting. Finished in Midnight Blue (TH1) this Silvia has a timeless aesthetic and boatloads of period-correct goodies. Powered by a built CA18DET, this RWD rocket shows some normal patina and cosmetic defects typical of its age. Set off by custom fender flares, a carbon fiber hood, an FRP grille, and an optional rear spoiler, this drag car is stylish, and the body is in fair shape. 17″ mesh rolling stock is in good condition. Running, driving, and ready to restore, this fully-built Japanese Classic may be the biggest secret we’ve been keeping!
Interior Overview
For a former drag car, the interior is exactly what you’d expect. It’s been fully gutted, and has a few aftermarket upgrades to satisfy the driver. The dash is in decent shape overall, although there is a hairline crack atop the gauge hood. The factory audio is no longer intact, and the factory climate control is missing levers to command your fan speed and direction. HKS oil temperature and exhaust temperature gauges are affixed to the A-pillar, and an Apex’i SAFC display is mounted atop the dash. Most of the instrumentation has given up the ghost, and the factory tachometer has been removed. The indicator stalk is missing, and because of this the headlights and tail lights are currently inoperable. Additionally, we were unable to confirm the function of the power windows, locks, and mirrors. The floor pan has been coated for protection, and the factory headliner is intact and in terrific shape. Even the door cards have withstood the past 38 years with minimal defects. The driver can settle into a Bride bucket seat, and take control of a suede-wrapped steering wheel. Even the controls for a line lock kit have been retained, although we do not believe the system to be functional.
Mechanical Overview
The CA18DET under the hood is the epitome of old school JDM. It’s easy to turn a wrench on, fun to modify, and this example has already been upgraded with a built bottom end, a larger turbo, a beefy front mount intercooler, and some additional provisions to aid your quest for higher horsepower. This 1.8l fires up with the twist of the key and holds a steady idle. It’s mated to a slick shifting 5 speed manual, and power is sent straight to a rear LSD. The stock suspension is in good condition, the brakes are functional, as is the power steering. The wheels are wrapped in good Falken rubber on all four corners. S13 Silvia’s are rare as hen’s teeth now, and this first-year example is ripe and ready to go to a passionate new owner!
