Toyota 80 series Land Cruisers are among some of the most reliable vehicles to roll off of Toyota's assembly line. This exceptionally well maintained 4.5l 1FZ-FE gas-powered example is no exception. The VX Limited trim is well-appointed and factory options are plentiful. The exterior features Toyota's Medium Gray Metallic (183) which is in great condition. The paint itself shows really well for its age and is free of any peeling or notable scuffs. The clear coat does have some scratches in it from routine wear over the years, but nothing out of the ordinary. Despite it's off-road, rugged roots, the body has been kept up with very well. All of the panels line up properly and doors close with that gratifying thud. An OEM optional front bull bar and skid plate sit up front are partly to thank. The chrome brush guard is in great condition and looks just tough enough without being over the top. This Cruiser was fully specced out when it left, all of the little additional touches like the OEM optional rain visors which are a helpful feature on rainy days. The optional OEM sunroof functions properly to let in additional light and ventilation and does not leak. Being the VX trim with the 3rd row you also have the sliding rear windows that also aid in ventilation for all. Rolling around on five new all-terrain tires really drives home the look that this truck means business, even at the factory ride height.

The interior is in equally nice condition as the exterior, it appears that this Cruiser really was loved back in Japan. The seats are trimmed in gray and blue Alcantara, which is both luxurious and sporty. This material gives off a high-end suede-like finish, but also provides plenty of grip on the trails. The bolstering is decent, and they don't get cold like leather or hot under the strong summer sun. Now when the weather does turn cold and you're looking to toast the behind, factory heated front seats come to the rescue. You would never guess that this SUV has 99K verified miles on it based on the condition. The dash is in excellent condition and shows no major damage that the 80 series Land Cruisers are so prone to. Even the door panels and headliner show very minimal wear. These were packed to the gills with options, even by today's standards. Of course power windows and mirrors, but things like the center console "Cool Box" which is a refrigerator and icemaker. Automatic climate control front and rear keep everyone comfortable when you set the cruise control on those long road trips. In the back, you'll find plenty of cargo space for camping gear or a run to the grocery store. For even more room when you're not using the 3rd row the two seats flip up against the side windows offering up gobs of additional storage space. The 30/70 split tailgate even provides an excellent bench for tailgating, and shade from the sun.

Underneath the massive hood is Toyota's tried and true 1FZ-FE 4.5 straight six. These naturally aspirated beasts are known for being bulletproof. Since this was the same motor offered here in the US parts availability is a breeze, you could literally drive it into your local Toyota dealer for maintenance. The beefy straight-six provides usable power on the highway and more than enough torque to get you out of any off-road adventure you may encounter, even if it is just a run to the market during the first snowstorm of the year. The automatic transmission shifts well, albeit with little urgency. These are massive cruisers after all, not sports coupes. The rugged 4x4 system is eager to perform, making this hauler just as capable of running around town, as it is fording a river. The real key to this one is the triple lockers that made these such legendary off-roaders. Having been so well maintained by the previous owner this SUV only needed a routine oil change along with those five brand new tires for it's Virginia State Safety Inspection. With their supreme comfort, incredible versatility, and bulletproof reliability the Land Cruiser really does live up to its name.
