1990 Mitsubishi Delica “Star Wagon”
There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to some vehicles. In the case of the Delica, it’s about what it represents - the kuruma for your ultimate adventure.
This 1990 Mitsubishi Delica “Star Wagon” is the first we’ve imported at Japanese Classics and it’s certainly a very unique vehicle. The 4WD version offers a bit firmer and more powerful ride and overall versatility. This particular one is in good condition inside and out. The exterior has some scratches and small dents, but is in good shape overall. The two-tone paint still shines very nicely and has been well taken care of by the previous owner in Japan. The front push bar, spare tire, and ladder steps provide functionality and a very utilitarian look. Fog lights and plenty of mirrors assist with visibility.
The interior is in very nice condition and has lots of neat options. Power amenities, bench seat armrests, center seats that swivel 360 degrees, clinometer, dual zone A/C controls for both front and rear are just a few. The middle seats can be adjusted for limo style seating and plenty of cargo space is available when combined with folding rear seats. Panels and trim are present and show minimal wear. The carpet has no major stains and the dash is free of cracks. The seats have been well kept and are still very comfortable. The side windows also slide open or can be covered with sliding curtains.
Mechanically the Delica is ready for whatever comes its way. The 4D56T 2.5L turbo diesel is known for being rugged and reliable. The engine was used in the Pajero which conquered the Dakar Rally to become the most successful vehicle in the Rally’s history. The 5 speed manual transmission and 4X4 function correctly and are plenty capable of navigating troublesome terrain. The A/C blows cold and the power steering is in working order.
Overall a very capable vehicle that’s ready for whatever adventure comes next.
