For those with an adventurous spirit and an appreciation for the finer things in life, the Toyota HiAce is the perfect fit! This 1996 is a tremendous midsize hauler, and is equipped with the desirable 3.0L turbodiesel and full-time 4WD. Fresh off a recent service, this turn-key van is offered with a mere 101k verified and documented miles. Its roomy interior and slate of power equipment rival any model we retail and its obvious to see why so many clients use them as adventure wagons. Finished in a Dark Blue Graphite over a Cement two-tone, the paint is in good nick aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. The unique aesthetic is complemented by a color matched roof, OEM rain guards, privacy tint, OEM rear spoiler, and a set of 15" Bridgestone NR695 alloys. As a family hauler, weekend getaway vehicle, or daily driver, this eight-seater is as good as it gets. Collectible, reliable, and ready to tackle whatever is thrown its way, this Japanese Classic is the real deal!

Unlike cheap and shoddy American minivans we remember as kids, the designers at Toyota took a different approach when they built the cabin. Utilizing quality materials and creative storage and seating options, the interior layout is flexible and can be curtailed to your needs. Up front, the driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and electric locks and windows to make daily use more enjoyable. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard and works as advertised. The rear passengers have their own dedicated controls as well, and the A/C blows ice cold. The visibility outside the cabin is incredible thanks to the cabover design, and the dash lacks any cracking or distortion. Dual SRS airbags are not found in many of these vans but our 96' has them onboard, for some added peace of mind when behind the wheel. The seats are a prime example of the brand's thoughtfulness. Upholstered in a soft blue and gray textured cloth, they are comfortable and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row swivels 180 degrees and can also be folded flat along with the rear bench for a pseudo-sleeping surface. If you want to nap under the stars or gain some extra ventilation, three sunroofs can be opened at a moment's notice. The panoramic glass in the middle of the cabin is massive, simply put, and can be power retracted so much that it feels like a convertible. The rear sunroof pops upward, too, and the side glass tilts out for more of a breeze if necessary. The headliner is in good nick, and the carpets and door cards have withstood the past 25 years without incurring major damage. Even the OEM carpet mats and owners manuals are still on hand for the next buyer. Also included is a rare rubberized OEM boot mat and set of spare keys, too!

The surprising thing about the HiAce models is how well they drive. Unlike American options like the Freestar and Grand Caravan, the driveline is mounted low and between the axels for much better balance and a lower center of gravity. The 1KZ-TE engine that powers this is a legendary unit known for its durability, power output, and relative efficiency. Our's is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up with the twist of the key. A new 12v battery aids ignition and the 3.0L idles with confidence. Torque is fed through a slick-shifting automatic gearbox and sent to all four wheels. The acceleration is impressive for a van and this 1996 cruises on the highway at 70mph with confidence. The suspension is cushy yet predictable and the short wheelbase alloys for easy parking in the city. The brakes are able to slow down this heavyweight with ease and the power steering is light and on point. Lastly, one of our trained techs mounted and balanced four new 225/70/R15 all-terrain tires. They look mean but more importantly will deliver tens of thousands of miles of premium year-round grip for plenty of time to come.
