The KZN185 Toyota Hilux is one of the most iconic SUVs on the market and for good reason. Toyota overbuilt these trucks and they are prized for both their reliability and their ruggedness, a rare combination on modern SUVs. This 1996 SSR-G model has been refinished in a menacing Super Black from its original Azure Blue. The blackout treatment suits it well and not a color you commonly find on this generation Hilux which are usually two tone. Sporting a few optional OEM accessories like the rain visors, sun roof visor, and optional rear wing. The exterior shows well and has only minor imperfections, rock chips, and door dings. This iconic Japanese classic has a mere 114k documented and verified miles and is fresh off a recent service and ready to start its next chapter here in the US.
The interior has been well kept and is in great overall condition. Equipped with dual SRS airbags, the dash is nice and has no cracks or major UV damage. However there is some slight distortion from age around the passenger side airbag to note. The seats have all held up well and show no major rips, tears, or stains. The driver seat bottom has a very small hole about 10mm in diameter and minor bolster wear. All of the creature comforts work properly including the automatic climate control, blowing cold A/C or hot heat on demand. The OEM radio is functional as well, but will not pick up US radio stations. A quick trip to your local stereo shop will remedy this. The power windows all function properly as do the power side mirrors. We also wanted to note that the sunroof is unfortunately no longer operational and the tachometer is intermittent. That aside, a very nice interior on this KZN185.
Powering the Hilux is the 1KZ-TE 3.0L turbo diesel engine. The gutty four cylinder chugs to life quickly with the assistance of two brand new 12v batteries, which make cold weather starts a breeze. Connected to a robust 4WD system and a smooth shifting automatic transmission you'll be able to navigate both daily traffic or your local beaches without a second thought. The brakes feel great thanks to brand new front pads and rotors our trained technicians installed and the suspension also received a refresh with new front lower control arms, new front left inner and outer tie rods, steering rack bushings, and new front sway bar end links. The suspension feels great and can easily handle potholes or some off road adventures and to top it off we performed a fresh alignment too. A new radiator was installed while it was on our lift and we replaced the fuel filter to ensure a clean system. Finally a fresh engine oil and filter service was performed along with installing 5 brand new tires to make sure you'll have traction on or off the road for years to come.
