Have you ever wondered what would happen if you outfitted one of Toyota's most prestigious luxury saloons with the power, gearbox, and handling of the brand's flagship sports car? Well wonder no more, the answer can be found in this 2JZ powered six-speed manual Aristo. Our 1997 Aristo Vertex Edition is finished in Toyota's Silver Metallic paint (199) and shows only minor light chips, scuffs, and dings associated with normal use. This aggressive sedan is sure to turn plenty of heads with its lowered stance, 18" Black Chrome AVS wheels and OEM rain guards and roof spoiler. While the mileage is unknown and unverified, this "four-door Supra" looks to have been well maintained and is a great option for daily use, spirited backroad driving, or even weekend trips to the road course! While this beautiful boat is an undeniable head-turner, we did want to note a replacement of the right rear door, rear quarter, and trunk lid. Nonetheless, the repair speaks for itself and this Aristo is ready for a new lease on life stateside. Fast, luxurious, and just downright fun, this recently serviced sleeper is definitely a Japanese classic and surely won't last long.
The interior carries over the same performance and luxury mashup as the exterior, and features a healthy amount of power amenities alongside some choice performance-oriented modifications. The dash is trimmed in an attractive black with grey tortoise trim and is in good shape, with no cracking, sun fading, or other unwanted age-related defects but we would like to note the center console has been modified to accept the six-speed manual transmission and the pull style handbrake. Dual-zone digital automatic climate control is fully operational for picky passengers, and cold A/C is on the ready to help keep the black leather cool in the summer months. The factory touch screen head unit is still fully functional and provides crisp and clear sound throughout the cabin, making the morning commute a bit more pleasant. The driver benefits from power windows, power folding mirrors, a power moonroof, and even keyless entry, which all function properly. Keeping the driver firmly planted is a Sparco Rev bucket seat, and with a power tilt and telescoping steering column you can easily find your optimal seating position. The passengers heated seat benefits from 4-way power adjustability, and standard front and side SRS airbags, making it plenty safe and comfortable for those long road trips. The black leather upholstery presents nicely, with only some light expected bolster wear, and the rear seats are plush and offer plenty of legroom to comfortably haul the rest of the family. The carpets, headliner and door cards have also held up well, no excessive staining, sagging, or wear to note. Overall, It’s clear to us this Aristo was well cared for in a prior life and we've even included an appropriate set of complementary Vertex embossed floor mats to keep your factory upholstery stain and spill-free!
The phrase 2JZ-GTE means little to anyone not associated with the performance car scene, but aspiring Aristo enthusiasts will surely understand the hype once the hood is popped on this incredible saloon. At the end of the day the drivetrain is what makes this Toyota so special, as the Aristo was never optioned from the factory with the Supra's legendary V160 manual gearbox. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L kicks over promptly thanks to a new 12v battery we have installed here stateside. The inline-six sounds great in factory form but this one emits a raucous roar thanks to a Blitz intake, Greddy front mount intercooler, and a full catback exhaust. For those looking to turn it up a notch, an electronic boost controller is sneakily tucked away in the glove compartment to adjust PSI's on the fly. Our trained technicians performed a thorough transmission service while up on the lift, replacing the output shaft seal and performing a full fluid flush to ensure this drivetrain operates smoothly under both daily and performance driving. The upper and lower radiator hoses are also new and a brand new serpentine belt rounds out the engine maintenance. On throttle this feisty four-door is a riot, and shifts through the 6 speed box are smooth and direct, but we would like to note a slight second gear whine common in the V160 gearbox. With the power being fed directly to the rear wheels, a quality suspension setup is necessary, and Cusco coilovers, Cusco sway bars, and Cusco crossmember and strut braces are all on hand helping this big body corner like no other on the road or track. Additionally, the Yokohama Advan AVS alloys are wrapped in brand new all season rubber, not only do they quiet down road noise significantly, they deliver plenty of grip in all conditions!
