Interior Overview
The cabin is in great shape for being derived from a 40 year old design. It’s upholstered in quality materials, flush with the power equipment needed to make daily driving a walk in the park, and boasts a desirable and comfortable third row for hauling around a full squad. The Prado touts ample headroom indoors, allowing passengers of all shapes and sizes to fit comfortably, and the driver can dial in the ideal piloting position with a tilt-adjustable steering column and power lumbar adjustment, which can be a godsend on longer road trips. The dash tucks nicely in the front of the cabin and has resisted major damage outside of a few hairline cracks that have been masked by a fitted dash mat. Power locks, windows, and side mirrors work like a charm, and for natural ventilation, the rear glass can butterfly out to supplement the cabin with a fresh breeze. If you prefer to utilize the factory climate control, cold A/C and hot heat work like a charm, and a touchscreen Kenwood head unit lies next door to supply the tunes to your passengers. The cloth upholstery is durable and has resisted any rips, stains, or bolster wear. The headliner and carpet are in fine shape, although we wanted to note some light discoloration and wear on the door cards and other plastics. Other than that, this retro interior really hits the mark!

Mechanical Overview
Mechanically, this is a simple and sturdy truck. Built atop a body-on-frame platform, it can take tons of abuse. The same can be said for its formidable engine, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the four banger churns to life quickly courtesy of a new 12v battery. To give this legendary mill a fresh start, we installed a new engine air filter and fuel filter, and then we slapped on some new accessory belts. It runs like a top and benefits from the most expensive preventative maintenance service there is. One of our trained techs has performed a timing belt service. Along with that, a new water pump was installed, and we flushed in new coolant so that the 1K maintains thermal efficiency. The 1K pulls hard to redine and a stout automatic transmission runs through the gears eagerly. The pilot can choose between 2WD and 4WD from inside the cabin and the hubs lock electronically. It gets up to highway merging speeds with ease and slows down with confidence thanks to its four-wheel disc brakes. For state inspection, we replaced the front panhard bar bushings and the suspension is able to handle the rigors of daily use and abuse. The long wheelbase distributes bumps well, and the new rear trailing arm bushings were installed to refresh the ride quality. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and high speed cruising is improved with a new steering stabilizer. The aftermarket alloys are handsome, and shod in brand new Falken all-terrain rubber. Fresh off an alignment, you’ll have no issues tracking straight on daily commutes, weekend beach runs, or longer highway hauls!
