1992 Land Cruiser FZJ80 Locker

Stock #5803

Highly refined and more than capable the 80 Series Land Cruisers are beloved around the world. This JDM example is optioned with the same silky smooth six-cylinder gasoline engine as our stateside Landy's, making finding service and parts easy as pie. Even better, this 101k verified and documented miles example is equipped with OEM triple lockers, which are a must-have for the off-road enthusiast. Fresh off a recent service, this VX Limited model is turn-key and ready to roll, and even includes a few tasty performance and cosmetic upgrades. Finished in a one-off Sable Black, this one is also complimented by WEDS Keeler alloys wrapped in aggressive 35" rubber, LED tail lamps, retro-themed vinyl, a 3" lift, privacy tint, and a set of OEM rain guards. Aside from some light dings and chips associated with normal use, this truck is no worse for the wear and would make for a wonderful kid hauler, weekend play toy, or eye-catching daily driver. Capable, reliable, and appreciating in value by the day this special rig is a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is about as large as anything we retail at this point with loads of room for people and cargo. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as the driver sits far above traffic. While there is dash damage which has been obscured by a Shevron dash mat, the cabin is in remarkably good shape otherwise. The seats are trimmed in a soft and classy grey suede. Although some of the seats show signs of age-related wear, they lack any major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears, and are comfortable on longer jaunts. The driver's seat even has adjustable lumbar support which pairs nicely with the adjustable steering column. A simple-to-use automatic climate control system is mounted in the center stack ready to deliver cold A/C and piping hot heat on demand. To the left, a simple OEM audio system nestles snugly into the dash, and the radio works. The clunky factory steering wheel has been ditched in favor of a sleek wood grain unit. The Land Cruiser marque is commonly associated with luxury amenities, and in 1992, power windows and locks were standard and work as they should. We must note the power windows can be a bit noisy during operation, and that the driver's side exterior mirror is only manually adjustable but they get the job done. There's even a power moonroof that works without hesitation, and a factory field monitor perfect for aspiring overlanders. By far the coolest OEM feature is the cool box, which even features a fully functional ice maker! Rear seating is versatile, with a middle bench that folds forward to maximize this 80's cargo space. Third-row mounting points are included for those looking to add to the family, although the rear bench was removed to make for some extra trunk space. The door cards and headliner are even in good nick, and aside from some expected age-related wear on the interior plastics, there's not much to complain about inside.

We love these J80s for the inherent smoothness of the driveline, and these 1FZ-FE engines regularly have logged over half a million miles. Fresh off a recent oil and filter service, this 4.5L engine whirrs to life instantly. A new 12v battery aids ignition and idle is a bit more pronounced through the aftermarket catback exhaust. A fresh air filter was installed to keep her breathing clear, and a new fuel filter ensures your 93 octane won't fall victim to unwanted contaminants. Lubrication is important on such a hefty mill, and we've replaced the valve cover gasket, oil pump seal, oil pan gasket, and transmission pan gasket to ensure you won't lose a drop of fluid! For proper thermal mamagment a new radiator and thermostat have been installed, and the 4.5L is ready for the hot summer temps ahead. Acceleration is sufficient, and this one has no problem getting up to highway speeds, although this lifted brute feels most comfortable putting around town. New plugs and wires were installed to eliminate any unwanted stumbles. The transmission shifts smoothly as well, and a selective transfer case is at the ready, with low gearing easily selectable should you become mired in the muck. Of course, triple-locking differentials don't hurt in extreme scenarios, as this high-value option makes this truck nearly unstoppable off the beaten path. A fresh rebuild of both front hubs shores up the drivetrain a bit, alongside a replacement of the fluids in the transfer case and rear diff. The lifted suspension definitely makes itself known while driving, but it's still plenty compliant over large and small road imperfections. The brakes bring this cruiser to a screeching halt if needed, and the power is still light and on point like you'd expect. New front and rear brake pads, rotors, and lines ensure this beast can stop in a timely manner. A brake fluid flush was also performed after we put the system back together. To polish off this 80 Series' menacing looks, we've wrapped all four corners in fresh Falken A/T rubber, sure to deliver plenty of grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
