1990 Mazda Cosmo 20B

We have another very unique vehicle that has just arrived at Japanese Classics. This time it’s a Mazda Cosmo. It’s the first Cosmo we’ve imported as they have just recently reached 25 years of age. Overall this Cosmo is in great condition. This 2+2 couple is loaded with power amenities and powered by a 20B twin-turbo triple-rotor engine. Following the Japanese luxury theme, power delivered through a semi-built 4-speed automatic transmission (Shift Kit).

The exterior of the Cosmo is in great condition; glass, plastics, trim, and panels all appear to be in great shape. No major dents or dings are present on body. The two-tone blue and gray paint pairs remarkably well with the paint matched Volk GT wheels. The vehicle has been lowered on Bilstein shocks and springs, which provide for a slightly more aggressive stance and superb handling characteristics.

Standard for all Type-S Cosmos, this one still has the factory cloth interior. It’s filled with power amenities such as power seats, mirrors, and door locks. Power folding mirrors and automatic climate control are also present. The A/C blows very cold, and heat works properly as well. The analog gauges have a floating holographic effect, which in 1990, was ahead of its time. All seats are free of rips and tears, panels are in good shape, and the dash shows no signs of cracking. Overall the interior is in great condition with the only modification being a Grid Boost Controller, and aftermarket radio, which does not work.

Although marketed as a luxury vehicle, this Cosmo also has a number of performance modifications. The 20B rotary engine was replaced 16,000 miles ago by Mazda. The 4-speed automatic transmission is semi-built providing a sportier feel. Powered is delivered through a 2-way limited slip differential and stopping power is provided by R33 Skyline GTR brakes in the front and rear. A RE Amemiya muffler provides a nice note without being overtly loud. The engine idles and runs great, thanks to a retuned ECU. An ARC front mount intercooler tops off the modification list for this Cosmo.

Overall this Cosmo is in great condition and sure to turn heads wherever you go.
